I absolutely love this Web generation tool! I use it for everything and purchase a 1-year subscription for each of my students, so I technically own approximately 250 accounts. Dozens of templates are available. They're attractive and customizable, and definitely don't look like the cookie cutter free sites that are out there.
Weebly is a drag-and-drop interface. There is a learning curve, but it's shallow. The majority of my students really prefer the Weebly interface; several have dropped their WordPress sites. Others have become Weebly designers and developed their own businesses through which they set up and maintain Weebly sites for their own clients.
Weebly offers two levels for academic use. The free version offers a lot of flexibility but lacks some of the academic bells and whistles instructors may expect. It also features the Weebly brand.
An inexpensive option is the Educational platform. For approximately $40/year, instructors get access to a robust site builder and can build up to six individual sites. Student licenses are also available. They're inexpensive ($1 each!) and are purchased in blocks of 10. Student users can also create up to six individual sites, but they don't have access to several features instructors can use.
